The Souhegan School Board meeting scheduled for 6:00PM tomorrow night, Thursday, June 17th, has been moved to accomodate a larger crowd. Typically meetings are held in high school’s Info Center but will be held in the annex building instead. The enormous outcry after two students, William Marks and Quinn Glover who were arrested in connection with the murder of Kimberly Cates and the brutal attack on her 11-year old daughter, had their photos included in yearbooks prompted the meeting.

School Board Chairman Steve Coughlin said, “People have asked for a chance to speak with us face to face about this issue, and this is an opportunity for them to be heard.” The board, superintendent and administrators had been under fire since the yearbooks were released, with emotional commenting on news sites, phone calls, emails and in person.

Of the four men whom face murder and related charges, Marks and Glover were Souhegan High School students. They have been jailed since their arrest on October 6, 2010 and have been receiving educational tutoring provided by the school district and the State.

The school released the yearbooks including the student photos and initially stood by their decision. Within a couple days, David Cates, Kimberly Cates’ husband, broke his silence after learning about the photos while walking to a store. He wrote a letter to the school clearly upset that he and his family were not consulted or made aware of the photos being included. Since then, Superintendent Mary Jennings, Interim Principal Jim Bosman and the school board have issued public apologies.
