Revisions approved to Recreation By-Laws

Karen Parrett, the Recreation Commission Chairman presented changes to the Commission’s by-laws during the June 28th Board of Selectmen Meeting. Under Membership the following was added: “Alternate Members: Up to two alternates may be appointed by the Board of Selectmen. Alternates will be non-voting members of the Commission, unless seated to replace a voting member who is not present or who has disqualified him/herself.”
Under Terms the following was added: “Alternate members shall be appointed for a three year term. By adoption of this amendment July 1, 2010 the initial term shall be as follows: 1 alternate member-2 year term 1 member-2 year term”; also added in italics – Members and alternate members may serve a limit of two (2) consecutive three (3) year terms in each position.
Under Amendments the following was added in italics – These By-Laws may be amended or restated from time to time by the Amherst Board of Selectmen and the Amherst Recreation Commission at any regular or special meeting thereof; provided, however, the proposed amendment, addition, alteration or repeal is stated in the notice 30 days prior of such meeting, and approved by the Board of Selectmen. Any such changes will not be considered final until adopted by the Amherst Board of Selectmen.The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to accept the changes.
