After releasing few details details since the incident took place, the Amherst and Nashua police arrested 32-year-old Hermes Pina Ramirez of Nashua for allegedly stabbing Sean Garcia, 30 and also from Nashua, during a party at a home at 482 Boston Post Road in Amherst. Ramirez is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at Milford District Court charged with one count of first-degree assault and one count of simple assault.

Following the altercation at around 4:00AM, both men fled the home. Around 4:45AM, Nashua police and EMS personnel responded to a car accident where a vehicle had struck a telephone pole and crashed into the front steps of the Hunt Building on Main Street. The driver was Garcia and he was found with injuries that were later determined to be related to the events that occurred in Amherst.

Nashua police notified Amherst of the findings and Amherst police responded to the Boston Post Road residence. According to police in an article from the Nashua Telegraph, witnesses at the home said Ramirez and Garcia were arguing and some said it became physical. During the fight, another man was punched and sustained an eye injury which led to the simple assault charge Ramirez is facing.

Amherst Police Chief Peter Lyons said the fight started from an argument over cigarettes.
